Character History

MAXIMUM CHRISTMAS

In a flashback taking place on Christmas one year prior to the quest starting point, Kyoko plans a Secret Santa event and Christmas dinner, but the Officio's leading members cancel it in favor of preparing for the appearance of Walpurgisnacht one month later.

Sayaka calls Kyoko later and they discuss why Christmas is so important to the red head. Sayaka prepares a nice dinner for the two of them and, after Kyoko returns from giving presents to her other friends, receives a set of fancy underwear from her girlfriend.

Angry at her friends, Kyoko shouts and leaves the Officio building.

Some time later Sayaka calls her girlfriend to scold her about bad form in front of the Warmaster and to ask where she is. Kyoko explains that she doesn't care about what other people think, that Christmas is important to show your appreciation to people in your life and that a witch is no reason not to celebrate this day. Sayaka tells her not to overreact and that they can celebrate after Walpurgisnacht is dealt with since being in a good mood will not take care of the witch.

Kyoko brings up the possibility of them dying in the fight against Walpurgisnacht and reasons that they should celebrate while they are still all there. Sayaka reminds her that she promised not to talk about these things, who replies that they should just have shut up and let her do the secret Santa. She still claims that the event will be good for everyone. They affirm each others love and hang up, looking forward to the evening.

After the call, Sayaka leaves the Officio to prepare a nice dinner for Kyoko and herself. She greets her girlfriend, failing to pretend being annoyed and hugs her tightly, apologizing for getting mad earlier. Sayaka explains that she didn't want to be reminded that this might be their last Christmas together and wanted to just work through the holiday to start regular days afterward without having to deal with the thought of either of them dying.

Kyoko calls her selfish for dragging the others into this, but she replies that she was just scared of loosing someone she doesn't deserve. Before she can say any more, Kyoko kisses her and copies her earlier rant about “what if”s before handing over her presents.

TRIVIA

-Sayaka and Kure Kirika had kind of a falling-out before the latter’s death, on account of her going completely off her tea tray crazy. She was an integral part of Kure’s retirement, too…maybe it was a kindness.

-She and Sakura Kyouko are practically married now, though I’ve heard she has some spicy almost-affairs on the side now and again…Sayaka-chan’s gotten so swag!

-She’s really gotten into pop music lately…well, it’s probably an improvement. Metal fans are crazy. [are not]
