Character Summary

Kirika Kure is the 9th Officio's best close-combat specialist until her forced retirement. She is also the former wielder of the golden katana Muramasa, her soul now presumably inhabiting the weapon and filling it with bloodlust. Her combat style is aggressive, forgoing stealth for direct assault. Her time dilation power is weaker than that of Chiaki Matsuda and is used mainly to dodge and increase her naturally high speed even further.

Due to her personality, Kirika is not very well liked in the Officio. Kyoko hates her for taking out one of her eyes, Sayaka hates her for her attitude and behavior during their time as master and student. She shares a mutual hate relationship with Chiaki due to their personalities and combat styles being natural opposites.

Character History

Retirement

Kirika is marked for forced retirement for becoming too dangerous and unpredictable after acquiring a golden katana. Chiaki investigates and requests information about the weapon. The two of them meet in a yakuza bar where Kirika reveals that she got it from the same apparition Chiaki frequently sees and tries to have a group of gangsters kill the other girl.

While Chiaki escapes and makes preparations, Kirika takes Mami hostage and demands to fight her would be assassin. They face each other on a skyscraper where Kirika stabs Mami and pushes Chiaki into a corner before she is taken out by Misaka with a large caliber sniper rifle.

After killing two principals in a row, Kirika Kure is marked for retirement, a mission Chiaki Matsuda accepts, who she always had an antagonistic relation with. News report a series of powerful politicians being brutally murdered, which the Officio connects to Kirika.

The dossier on Kirika informs Chiaki of her impressive mission and kill count, her time dilution powers and the fact that she is using her personal weapon, a sword, more than her psychic claws recently. The only important person to her is one Oriko Mikuni, a classmate who does not know she is a magical girl, who she greatly values.

Kyubey schedules a fake assassination mission for Kirika to lure her into a favorable spot for Chiaki to retire her. Further information gathering reveals that Kirika has been screamin about "the flesh of fallen angels" while flailing about during another mission and that she has been unsing a golden sword of unknown origin coupled with an Iai-jutsu fighting style recently.

For further investigations, Chiaki calls Kirika and asks about her golden sword. She tells her that Muramasa is a bit too gaudy, but extremely sharp and doesn't ever dull. When asked about the origin, Chiaki tells her about her own golden gun and a pink haired girl, upon which Kirika demands to meet in person in a yakuza bar.

There, Kirika reveals that she met the pink haired girl in this bar, much like Chiaki did. She knew Kirikas name, but never told her own, giving her Muramasa before disappearing. Kirika inspects the unloaded golden Desert Eagle, telling Chiaki that the gold is the same as her sword, and removes the logo on it with some alcohol, revealing the roman number VIII. She tells Chiaki that the pink haired girl said that someone with this weapon would be the one to kill her. Kirika says she doesn't believe this prophecy and makes to leave. She does however believe somebody telling her that Chiaki was sent to retire her, and sends six yakuza to kill the Vindicare before disappearing herself.

Shortly after Chiaki escapes the yakuza, Kirika assaults her in a cab mid ride, with a mad grin and black eyes, screaming about "the flesh of fallen angels" before killing the driver and disappearing again.

During the time Chiaki makes plans, Kirika injures and abducts Mami Tomoe from Chiakis apartment where she was guarding Iori Minase with Kyoko Sakura. She calls Kyubey and demands to meet Chiaki alone on top of Mitakihara Tower One to settle the score, using Mami as a lure. It turns out that it was her who told Kirika about her scheduled retirement because she didn't want to lose one of her friends.

Chiaki faces Kirika in the designated location, the sword fighters eyes even darker than those of the pink haired girl, accompanied by a bloody grin. Mami begs for Kirika to be left alone, who in turn mocks Chiaki before stabbing her hostage. She charges at her opponent who unloads shotgun rounds in return, only hitting the first time due to Kirikas time dilution giving her enough speed to prevent Chiaki from using her own time stop ability.

Right after talking about how she tasted the devils blood and flesh of fallen angels, Kirika cuts off her foes right arm with speed faster than the eye can follow. She walks around the fallen girl, gloating, only to be assaulted with a combat knife, the blade piercing her chest and, now stunned, is shot dead with a large caliber rifle from an adjacent building by Misaka.

Mami Flashback

In a flashback taking place two years prior to the main quest, Kirika is considered Mamis equal and best friend. She is called in as backup to clear a witch barrier, accompanied by a squad of three Culexus. She explains her weakened friend that the Culexus are causing her current state, hinting that she has already spent some time with them. Kirika assures Mami that the witch will be taken care of and that the magical girl she found in the barrier is fine and will be brought to the Officio.

MAXIMUM CHRISTMAS

In a flashback taking place on Christmas one year prior to the story's starting point, Kirika meets Kyoko in Mitakihara Central Mall while shopping with Oriko. Her friend offers to help the red haired girl find a suitable set of underwear for her girlfriend, and Kirika grudgingly agrees on leaving them alone for a while after arguing with her coworker.

In a flashback taking place on Christmas one year prior to the story's starting point, Kirika meets Kyoko in Mitakihara Central Mall while shopping with Oriko. Her friend notices the red haired girl in an underwear store, looking rather confused, and decides to approach and offer her help.

Kirika teases the Eversor about her Santa hat and walking around in her costume, but Oriko reprehends her. The red head admits that she never bought lingerie before and doesn't know Sayaka's three sizes, but mentions how Oriko is pretty close and asks her to be a model for a bit, making the blonde blush and Kirika mad.

She shouts at Kyoko for asking such a thing, but is again reprimanded by her friend who assures her that the red headed girl is a good person who would not do anything to her, especially if it would risk her job. Kirika agrees to go and buy a cake as planned while Oriko helps Kyoko and walks off.

After adding a cake box to her load, Kirika returns and finds both Kyoko and Oriko still inside the underwear shop, blushing. She threatens to gut Kyoko if she did anything, who is decidedly ignored by the red head who thanks Oriko and turns away to leave. Kirika stops her a few steps away and apologizes for her earlier behavior, not without claiming to kill both them and Sayaka if she catches Kyoko looking at her girlfriend again. Grinning, Kyoko replies that she will use Kirika's flayed skin as a cape if she touches Sayaka and departs.

Trivia

• The character design is a direct adaption of Kirika Kure from Puella Magi Oriko Magica. (save for her hair and eye colors, which were brown and yellow respectively)
• Her file reads that her wish was to be strong enough to protect someone she loves.
• Kirika completed 120 missions with 400 hostile kills, including witches and 5 magical girls.
• The amount of innocents killed by Kirika is almost as high as her hostile kills.
• Her drink of choice is the Changaa.

BIO: A violent and moody magical girl in the Ninth, she nonetheless has the skills to back it up. Kure Kirika has a certain rough charm to her that attracts people to her. I heard that she’s not very close to many people, though…that must be lonely.
ABILITY: Time dilation, or the ability to slow things around her. Whether it affects aging long-term is kind of an interesting subject, isn’t it?
