Character History

Iori Minase

765 Productions enlists Ciaki Matsuda as a bodyguard for Iori. She dislikes Chiaki and gets really mad at how the magical girl treats her friend Yayoi. During the night a group of armed men enters the hotel room and tries to have their way with the idol while Chiaki is under the influence of an illusion spell. But the bodyguard manages to dispel it, kills the men without hesitation and shoots the legs off of their magical girl accomplice.

Chiaki helps the traumatized Iori wash the blood off until Mami arrives to take over and gives the idol her contact info before leaving.

After a group of Otaku declares their intent to take their beloved idol Iori Minase away some time before an upcoming concert, 765 Productions contracts QB Heavy Industries for extra security. Chiaki Matsuda is assigned as Ioris personal bodyguard until her departure to America for her world tour. Considering the fact that another idol, Yayoi Takatsuki, was assaulted and raped without the standard security even noticing, the need for highly capable security detail seems appropriate.

Iori's first impression of Chiaki is all but favorable. Smoking and smelling of alcohol, Ioris first order fis to do something about her hygiene. Despite her confident appearance, Iori is concerned but calms down after Chiaki assures her safety.

Talking about her coworker and friend Yayoi makes her strong facade crumble, revealing a worried and hurt girl. Chiaki showing compassion and making jokes makes Iori open up to her.

The sudden unannounced visit of Ioris friend Yayoi causes arguments as Chiaki roughly searches the frail girl for weapons, making Iori slap her. Iroi demands her and Yayoi being left alone, which her guard firmly refuses. Indignant the idol proclaims to call for a different bodyguard the next day. Determined to spend the night with each other, the idols opt to ignore the bodyguard who refuses to leave them and engage in intimacy under the sheets.

Later, while her bodyguard is under the influence of an illusion spell cast by Yayoi, who turns out to be a Magical Girl imposter posing as the idol, five men in heavy gear break through the skylight and attempt to rape Iori much like they did with the real Yayoi.

Terrified screams for help turn into horror from both Iori and the now green haired Magical Girl as Chiaki messily murders the would be rapists, one of them a member of the idols security detail, with a pair of guns. She also shoots the girls legs off with a golden gun and ties her up before shoving a corpse off of her traumatized prospect and taking her to the bathroom.

Getting the gore washed off of her, Iori slowly calms down, further opening up to Chiaki, thanking her for saving her life. As Mami Tomoe arrives to take care of Iori, she requests Chiaki's cellphone number before she leaves.

Retirement

After the events at the hotel, Iori is supposed to lay low and requests to stay at Chiaki's apartment. She clings to Chiaki in her sleep and expresses concern about her work when awake. While Chiaki is away, Iori spends time with Kyoko and Mami until the blonde girl is kidnapped. Worried about everyone, she accompanies Kyoko to find Chiaki heavily injured after her mission and realizes just how dangerous her life as a magical girl is.

After the event at the hotel, the world tour is postponed by the Producer and Iori is to lay low for a while. The safe house she stays at for the time being turns out to be Chiaki Matsuda's apartment of all places, the safest place in the city according to Tomoe Mami. In reality Iori herself insisted on this arrangement, requesting it to appear as QB Heavy Industries idea.

Agreeing to the house rules regarding not touching her alcohol and arms, Iori reveals that the real Yayoi killed herself after her assault, leaving Chiaki as the only one she knows in the area. Despite giggling at the notion of talking cats, she is made to promise not to listen to anything they tell her.

The next morning, the sleeping Iori clings to Chiaki, touching herself shortly after her host carefully extracted herself to start working. Fully awake later, the idol expresses concern for Chiakis safety during her job but believes in her ability to protect herself.

During Chiakis absence, Iori plays videogames with Kyoko Sakura and Mami Tomoe. Shortly after Mami is abducted by Kirika Kure while standing watch in front of the apartment. Iori stays with Kyoko until the situation is taken care of and later arrives at the scene of Kirika's retirement, finding Chiaki unconscious with an arm missing. On the way Iori nearly kicked Kyubey into the traffic following Chiaki's advice not to talk to alien cats.

Seeing the scene, Iori realizes that Magical Girls are real and just how dangerous Chiakis work really is, crying over her unconscious form, but calming down after talking once the Magical Girl wakes up. She supports the exhausted Chiaki walking and gets her home for dinner, feeding her guardian with home cooking.

Recuperation & Maid to Kill

Iori hires Chiaki as a bodyguard to accompany her to a gala. She outfits the magical girl with a maid uniform and has her pretend being a servant during the event. She meets Lance Kilgore and talks to Garcia Lovelace until the former starts murdering people. Chiaki opens a path for her to escape and Iori follows Garcia and his maid outside.

The next day Iori accompanies Chiaki to the Officio, keeping close physical contact all the while until the Magical Girl meets with her boss. Quietly watching the encounter between Chiaki and Oriko Mikuni, Iori then spends time with Mami while her guardian engages in interrogations. Waiting in the lobby, Iori and Mami give Chiaki a new cellphone, before heading out to the shopping center, obviously plotting something.

Later Iori requests Chiakis three sizes via phone. In the evening, she sits silently through a Magical Girl meeting in Chiaki's apartment concerning golden weapons, witches and insanity. Afterwards Iori reveals that she hired Chiaki for another assignment, namely escorting her to a black tie event in a mansion in upper Mitakihara. Wearing a maid uniform no less.

A week after the retirement of Kirika Kure, Iori has been going out with Mami nearly every day, Chiaki never coming along. The night of the gala, Kyoko acts as chauffeur and support after Chiaki decides to carry a golden gun with her, wearing the butler uniform meant to be an alternative to Chiakis maid dress.

On the way Iori tells Chiaki about the guests attending, who are mostly fellow 765 Production idols, but also a big investor by the name of Lance Kilgore, whom she doesn't like at all. There is no real agenda except for staying until the end after roughly six hours and the idol expect things to go smoothly, telling Chiaki to relax. She tells her guard that she doesn't really want to attend since this is the first time without Yayoi, who loved these events. She also informs Chiaki that she will speak to her in a different tone inside. She refers to the guests as a wretched hive of scum and villainy, admitting some exceptions.

When meeting her friends, she plays her assault down, saying she had someone trustworthy protecting her. One friend, Chihaya, mentions that Iori disliked the idea of a maid following her, the other however, Takane, reckognizes Chiaki as a guardian. She asks her name, getting quite close to Chiaki, causing a small outburst of jealousy from Iori, after which she dismisses Chiaki to mingle with her peers.

The presence of Lance Kilgore makes Iori nervous, making Chiaki pretend that there is a phone call waiting to remove her client from Kilgores presence, upon which he takes an interest in the golden weapon. Iori feigns anger at her slow servant, walking off to a balcony, nervously asking what happened. She is frightened by hearing about Kilgore possessing a golden weapon, but persuades Chiaki not to kill him because her friends and innocents are present, in return for leaving the event early.

Following Chiakis request, Iori talks to Garcia Lovelace to give him an autograph, jumping in surprise as her maid pats her rear. After signing an entire page with a detailed autograph, she demands praise only to be interrupted by Lance Kilgore starting his "first ever bloodbath challenge".

When hell breaks loose, Chiaki clears an exit with her golden Desert Eagle and passes Iori her phone with the instruction to call Kyoko for backup before shoving her through the door. Despite being panicked she is still concerned about her friends inside while escaping with Garcia Lovelace, his maid, Takane and an unconscious Chihaya and is set into the armored car by Kyoko shortly after.

After the fight they are recovered by Officio personnel.

Recruitment

After the gala, Iori stays at the Lovelace residence. She calls Chiaki and overhears her fooling around with another girl, which hurts the idol a lot. When they meet again, Iori is still mad and has Garcia talk for her instead. Chiaki informs her that she will be away on a trip for a while and she should stay at the Lovelace residence.

After escaping the event location, Iori stays at the Garcia mansion with a few Officio guards. She calls Chiaki's cellphone, which is currently held by Kyubey, asking about her condition, 31 times first in tears, then hysterical.

Soon after Chiaki calls back, assuring Iori that she is alright and taking care of something at the Officio. She hears someones voice in the background, a giggle at first, then a sharp moan, upon which Chiaki tells her to meet the next day and cuts the call. Chiaki calls back a few minutes later to explain, but Iori doesn't want to hear anything, telling her it's late and she wants to sleep. She is secretly crying in between the calls and crying herself to sleep afterward.

The next morning in the Lovelace mansion, Iori is having breakfast with Garcia, talking animatedly until Chiaki shows up. She tries her best not to look at her guard who is invited to join them, fresh pancakes already waiting, but can barely stop herself from giggling at the magical girls lack of etiquette.

She makes Gacia tell Chiaki that she was worried and that she should have the decency to tell Iori first before messing around with other girls. Chiaki apologizes for not calling earlier, but not for drinking and for Iori hearing her coworkers drunken antics. She also says that it's none of Ioris business how she spends her free time as their relationship is a professional first and foremost, leaving the idol in tears.

Chiaki informs Iori and Garcia that she will be gone for a few days and gladly accepts the young Lovelace's offer to let Iori stay at his mansion until her return. Kyoko, Sayaka and Mami will occasionally check up on them and serve as an escort when needed, before leaving.

Return & Warmaster

When Iori hears that Chiaki returned from her trip, she tries to call her a lot, and late at night she finally calls back. They talk a little about how Iori has been while Chiaki was away and her plans for the near future. They also and plan on meeting for coffee soon.

During their meeting, Iori tells Chiaki about Ruri Kirishima, the upcoming concert and how the super idol threatened to steal the magical girl away. Chiaki uses this opportunity to tell Iori once again that she doesn't want to be more than friends, right in front of her idol friends in the coffee shop.

Iori takes it hard, crying over her unrequited love, but makes up her mind that being friends with Chiaki is still better than loosing her completely. Before leaving, Chiaki explains that it was always herself who never had a chance of this relationship working out.

As soon as Iori hears of Chiaki's return, she calls Kyoko to arrange a meeting as soon as possible. She also tries to call Chiaki herself frequently, but her calls never connect.

Late at night, Chiaki finally calls her back. Iori is happy to hear from her again, but her voice is strained from crying earlier. She tells Chiaki that her time at the mansion has been well and that Mami and Sayaka spent time with her frequently. She even got on friendly terms with the blue haired girl, who seemed all hard edged before.

Iori seems to be holding back on something but assures that nothing bad has happened since the incident with Lance Kilgore. Chiaki asks about her friends, and Iori relaxes, telling her how they already got back into their work. Iori herself is supposed to have a comeback concert soon, after letting the dust settle for a week longer.

Nervous about her performance after a long break, Chiaki encourages Iori, telling her that Idols can do anything. Iori responds that she sometimes wishes being able to do more than just performing, but still remembers Chiaki's words of warning.

Chiaki then mentions that she doesn't have a lot of time to talk, but wants to meet her over coffee, emphasizing that it's not a date. Iori happily agrees to meet her in two days, wishing her a good early morning. Realizing how late it is, she mentions that she could not sleep before talking to Chiaki, and hurriedly ends the call in embarrassment.

The next morning, Chiaki calls her again. Right then a loud voice resounds on the other side of the connection, a girl loudly exclaiming she got a box for panties. Startled, Iori asks if this is a bad time, but Chiaki tells her that she is sorting out her office, joking that she probably needs an exorcist.

Iori tells her that her day started badly, she received a job as background singer for an idol from a rivaling company. A popular one holding a huge concert in Mitakihara. Chiaki asks if this idol is Ruri Kirishima, and Iori confirms, asking if she is a fan.

Iori is relieved to hear that Chiaki is not a fan of her competition and will deal with her on a professional level. The magical girl then apologizes for her schedule changing and asks if Iori can have coffee with her today and if there is a coffee shop she favors. Iori agrees and will send her the location of a quaint shop soon.

She mentions how Chiaki changed since her trip and that she is looking forward to seeing her new look that Kyoko mentioned to her, before telling her goodbye to get back to work. Soon after her conversation with Chiaki, she excitedly calls Mami to ask what she should wear for her meeting, who recommends something cute yet tasteful, but no too idol-ish.

Later in the coffee shop, surrounded by other idols, Iori awaits her date. Despite Mami's advice, she wears an idol outfit, similar to what the other customers wear. Once Chiaki arrives, Iori calls her over and the magical girl draws the attention of everyone in the shop. The chatter stops as she takes off her hat and flicks her hair in a stylish manner, leaving Iori awestruck and blushing.

Iori mentions she didn't expect Chiaki to look this different, who wonders if her “workplace accident” is really that bad, but the idol quickly assures that she likes it. Chiaki mumbles about her looking pretty, and after some more awkward tension, Iori finally tells her to sit down, all the while under the watchful eyes of the other idols.

After ordering their drinks, Chiaki asks how Iori and her friends have been doing while she was gone. She explains that everything has been peaceful and that they are currently practicing for the upcoming concert. While usually bad form to hire other agencies on short notice, all local idols are participating in the huge event for publicity.

Iori then asks about Chiaki's trip, worried if the accident was painful. She tells her that it hurt in more way than one, that two others didn't make it, but that still being there is enough as long as there is still work to throw herself into. Iori places her hand on top of Chiaki's and offers her help whenever she needs it. While she doesn't know what really happened, she knows the feeling of loosing a friend after all.

While the other idols are still watching and whispering to each other, Iori asks about Chiaki's interest in Ruri Kirishima. The Warmaster explains that she was hired as Kirishima's exclusive security detail, news that Iori takes a while to swallow, mentioning that she had a feeling the super idol might do this.

After letting the upset idol think for a while, Chiaki asks her if there is something between Kirishima and her, sensing something personal. Iori explains that a few days after the hotel incident, Ruri Kirishima started calling her, despite their agencies being on bad terms. She wanted to befriend Iori, going shopping together a few times, she even helped pick out the maid outfit Chiaki wore at the gala.

Soon after, she started asking about Chiaki and her co-workers. While Iori didn't reveal anything confidential, Ruri seemed to be familiar with magical girls and took a special interest in Chiaki. After the gala incident, she stopped calling Iori for a while, but one night told her to stop trying to romance Chiaki, threatening to steal her away otherwise.

Chiaki then reminds her of what she told her before departing to Siberia, that Iori deserves better than her, that she is not a good person and doesn't see herself getting better, and that she is not someone Iori should want to be with. As Iori's face goes pale with tears welling up in her eyes, Chiaki tells her that this meeting is meant to make her understand that there will be nothing more or less than friendship between them, for both their sakes.

Despite the tears flowing from her eyes, Iori forces a smile and tells Chiaki that she understood the first time and tried hard to understand that she didn't want to be more than friends. She explains that despite understanding that it is the right thing to do, hearing Chiaki say it still hurts.

As Chiaki gets up and approaches the crying girl, the surrounding idols get up and move closer. While the magical girl returns the icy glares, Takane steps up and politely asks her to leave before any more damage is done, both by Chiaki and any possible onlookers. She scolds her about choosing this time and place, but the magical girl remains silent, acknowledging her mistake.

While two of her friends work to calm Iori down, Chiaki tells Takane to take care of Iori and moves away under the hateful glares of the collected idols. Before she can enter her car, Iori calls out to her again, her voice full of loneliness. She tells her that she is okay with being just friends, but needs to know if Chiaki ever felt anything for her or if she never had a chance in the first place.

Pulling her hat low enough to hide her eyes, a small sad smile on her lips, Chiaki replies that she did, but that it was her who never had a chance. While the magical girl leaves, Iori keeps crying, surrounded by her friends who lead her deeper into the shop, away from the public eyes.
