		+	Three days before the emergence of Walpurgisnacht, an unknown group attacks Kharn and Murderface in the middle of the night when they sneak out to get drunk. They put up a fight, but are overwhelmed in the end and Kharn is stabbed with a mysterious black dagger.

		+	Malal finds them and takes the pair back to the Officio for treatment, but Kharn's state remains critical and her soul gem corrupts rapidly, keeping her close to witching out constantly.

		+	Mere minutes before the predicted emergence of Walpurgisnacht, the Warmaster turns and transports herself to the egg of Walpurgisnacht. She twists the area into a hellish battlefield and relishes the battle between her daemons and the arriving Black Templars and Culexus troops.

		+	Hours later, the Templars lead a charge against her, but fail to defeat the witch. She turns around to face a powerful foe charging up an attack behind her and is stopped by Yuma and Cavefish putting up a shield. She breaks three shields upon which Mordred escapes, but Yuma manages to shatter Kharn's giant blade in a desperate struggle.

		+	When Yuma collapses, Malal shows up, wielding her magic bow and fires a single arrow that miraculously transforms the Warmaster back into human form. When she regains consciousness, Kharn finds her friend dead. She clings to Malal's body and begs her not to leave her alone until the body is eventually taken to the mortuary.

		+	<spoiler show="Full Chapter Summary" hide="Hide Full Summary">Three days before the emergence of Walpurgisnacht, someone attacks Kharn and Murderface in the middle of the night when they sneak out to get drunk. They are hit by a large group of Callidus and, while they kill a great number, eventually get overwhelmed by their numbers and their own drunken state.

		+	Murderface goes down first and Kharn, fighting with silent determination to save her friend instead of the usual bloodthirsty laugh, is hit by a black dagger right in her heart. The assassins decapitate the Warmaster and place her head in her lap in a vulgar fashion before cleaning up behind them and leaving, no trace of their presence remaining.

		+	Malal finds the pair and drags them back to the Officio for healing, where they find out that the dagger infected Kharn with something that inhibits healing and darkens her soul gem quickly. Due to Kharn's state, she is locked up in Silent Room Regalia, the strongest prison the Ninth has. Kyubey agrees that this matter is to be kept secret from the rest of the Officio to prevent it from affecting the upcoming Walpurgisnacht mission.

		+	Mere minutes before the emergence of Walpurgisnacht, Kharn witches out. Malal tries to stop her, but cannot stand against the Warmaster's power and is eventually killed. Meanwhile Kharn makes her way to Walpurgisnacht to revel in the slaughter that is to come.

		+	Kharn's new form is a gigantic demon of black steel limbs veined with molten bronze, spiked leathery wings, black razor teeth and eyes full of cruelty and murderous hunger. Clad in spiked armor adorned with rattling skulls, she sits upon an enormous spiked bronze throne, her golden chainaxe resting on her lap, a giant black sword with burning golden runes clutched in her fist. Like an incarnation of war, the witch towers over a screaming field of slaughter filled with bones, flesh, raining blood and a host of Daemons.

		+	After a few hours of watching her demonic troops fight kill the group of Black Templars and Culexus, the remaining magical girls charge toward Kharn in challenge. She rises from her gigantic throne, graceful and confident as always, and starts killing them easily. Her power is even greater than before, but she gave up on her playfulness and slaughters her prey immediately instead of giving off a fake feeling of having a chance.

		+	While the Templars try their best to kill her, Kharn laughs and turns around to face a group of three, rising her black blade in challenge toward a rising pillar of energy emanating from Mordred's sword. The witch brings her weapon down on them, shattering the shield the two Culexus put up three times until one of them dies and Mordred runs away in terror.

		+	The remaining Culexus, Yuma, raises her hands in a desperate burst of power and manages to stop Kharn's sword in place. Putting everything she has into it, she makes the black blade crack, a sound echoing across the battlefield, earning a disbelieving breath from the witch. With a laugh, Yuma clenches her fists and Kharn's sword shatters, it's pieces spreading in all directions and impaling the screaming horror.

		+	Out of nowhere, Malal walks up to her, suit torn and without helmet, revealing pink eyes and impossibly long pink hair under a radiant halo. A flaming rosewood bow in her hands, Malal wordlessly tells Kharn to get saved so she can keep her promise. With a single arrow, she defeats the witch and miraculously reverts her friend back to her human form.

		+	The barrier collapses and reveals a snowy clearing, still filled with blood and bones. Kharn discovers the corpse of her best friend and keeps holding it while begging her not to leave her. When Malal's corpse is taken to the mortuary, Kharn fights hard not to be separated, but eventually has to let go.</spoiler>

 Some hours after the procedure successfully finishes, Chiaki wakes up to Kharn poking fun at her. Unfortunately, her amnesia has relapsed, making her forget about the procedure, Kharn and her friends. The russian explains that the treatment was successful and the memory loss should not have happened, stating that it might be only temporary. She quickly examines Chiaki, tells her a few things about the current situation and takes her back to the living area of the R&D base where the others are waiting. After Chiaki tells her friends about the amnesia, Kharn tries to calm the crying Misaka down, but only gets shouted at. Misaka locks herself in her room, Kharn reintroduces Midori and heads into the kitchen to look after Souji. Later during breakfast, she restates that Chiakis treatment was a complete success and should not have any side effects, temporary or not, telling Souji that they will have to make sure a resurgence of amnesia doresn't happen again during the final procedure. He replies that another treatment might not be necessary, but Kharn insists they should be prepared for it nonetheless. Kharn then refreshes Chiakis memory about the R&D base and their incubator before deciding to continue their schedule with a training session. Souji voices his concern about using the golden weapons, but Kharn insists on them being available for Chiaki to use. She tells her partner to lead Chiaki to the training area and heads off to change, obviously excited. In the training area she tells Chiaki not to mind Soujis behavior, explaining thet he is just worried about a dream he had about Chiaki killing Kharn, who went berserk and murdered Misaka and Midori. She tells Chiaki not to worry, who replies that they can worry about her boyfriends dreams later, making Kharn finally resign and admitting to a more intimate relationship with Souji. She choses her weapon, a wooden staff, warms up with a set of elegant moves and stances and offers Chiaki a bet to make the training more interesting. Chiaki replies that she doesn't remember anything she could bet, and Kharn decides to bet a package from Malal that Chiaki should receive when she really needs it, and Chiaki should bet a favor for Kharn that she cannot refuse if called to. Chiaki agrees and Kharn calls Midori over to give them a start sign. Before the green haired girl finishes, Chiaki starts a surprise attack, but Kharn easily blocks the strike and beats her training partner down before saying that she likes how Chiaki can still cheat properly. For the next round, Chiaki approaches the golden weapons, but hesitates to pick one up. Kharn explains that she made sure Chiaki is shielded from the Blessed Lady's influence and impatiently prompts the Warmaster in training to pick a weapon and start fighting again. Chiaki touches the weapons in order and tells Kharn about voices and feelings she is perceiving from them, and the russian explains that they still know very little about the golden weapons, but that the voices and visions are harmless echoes best to be ignored. When Chiaki asks what they do to Kharn, she replies that she felt as if she could fight without end until the effect eventually faded over the years, replaced by a vision of her death against a monstrous foe. She picks up the twin chainaxes while Chiaki puts on the bangles, fumbling about until they transform into giant gauntlets. Chiaki mentions that she suddenly remembers some names, but is in no rush to go back to her past self, calling herself a good for nothing excuse of a magical girl, which angers Kharn who considers the past Murderface an important friend. She shouts a command and the weapon racks are removed from the area to make way for a more fierce match. This time the russian starts a surprise attack before Midori can give the signal, impressed that Chiaki manages to block her opening attack. After Chiaki manages to catch the second attack, Kharn unleashes a furious flurry of blows until she penetrates her oponents defense and hits her shoulder. She explains how her weapon works, telling Chiaki that she will not cut off her arm if she gives up. A purple flame appears in front of Chiakis left eye and she moves much quicker and stronger than before, removes the chainaxe from her shoulder and punches Kharn across the room with a massive fist. She gets up again, gives the round to Chiaki, congratulates her on figuring out how to use the weapon properly faster than she did herself, and taps into her own weapons power, crimson fire dancing in front of her left eye. She demands a final round without holding back, however Chiaki decides to give up on Midoris request, giving the victory to Kharn. The russian is disappointed, but accepts Chiakis decision, patting her shoulder and stating that she never fails to surprise her. She returns the chainaxes to the weapon rack and tells Chiaki to keep the bangles to acclimatize them and to ask the girl inside for her name. Back in the living area Misaka approaches Chiaki again, burying her face into her stomach, crying. Kharn leaves the situation to the Warmaster in training and leaves to take a quick shower. Upon returning, she finds Chiaki calming Misaka down but fumbling with her words. She silently forms words to help Chiaki out, telling her to be a big sister to the young girl. As Misaka leaves, Kharn warns Chiaki that chosen of the Blessed Lady should be careful with promises like that. She returns the soul gem that she held on to during and after Chiakis treatment, explaining that the changes in look are harmless. She suggests starting interrogating the captured Mirai Wakaba soon and that Chiakis return to Japan was moved ahead. On the way to the interrogation room, Kharn and Midori fill Chiaki in on her current Officio background and the situation with Mirai. Inside she explains how the surrogate body, an old looking PC, works, assuring that it has powerful technology inside that betrays its look. Kharn pushes Chiaki to start the interrogation, assuring her of its safety and explains that it works just like a chatroom. She leans on Chiaki during the interrogation, reading the text on the screen, explaining that being placed in this device is quite disturbing. All senses are disabled, only allowing the text on the screen to be perceived, which creates enough pressure to make lying nearly impossible. Mirai quickly gives in, begging to be released, but then another user appears in the conversation, surprising Kharn as this shoulod be impossible. She reaches out to remove the soul gem from the machine, but stops as the intruder threatens to detonate the gem if they sever the connection. Kharn states that the elevator doors would withstand an explosion, but might close behind them, making this an interesting gamble. The Tenth demands Midoris return, but Chiaki tells him that she belongs to her and Kharn laughs, stating that she learned her second lesson as Warmaster. While Chiaki keeps talking to the Tenth, she asks if Kharn has any countermeasures in case things get ugly, and she replies that Souji is infomed and a short range teleporter is prepared. She sends Midori out of the room into the elevator, handing her keycard over and explains that the teleporter is set to bring them next to her, instructing Midori to head up no matter what. Chiaki types her reply to the Tenth and forces Mirais soul gem out of the machine, but the incubator already did something as it fills with darkness, transforming the magical girl into a witch. The teleporter brings Kharn out on time, Chiaki however is left behind and swallowed into the barrier.
